Benzi Kluger, MD, MS, FAAN is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Colorado and Founder and Chief of their Neuropalliative Care Section. Over the past 5 years, he has dedicated his career to the emerging field of neuropalliative care, the application of palliative care approaches and principles to improve the lives of persons affected by neurologic illness. This work has included starting one of the first team-based neuropalliative care clinics in the U.S., pursuing research to document the palliative care needs of patients and families, conducting multisite clinical trials of palliative care interventions for Parkinson’s disease, developing an international working group for neuropalliative care, contributing to a new textbook on neuropalliative care, and leading an effort in concert with the Education in Palliative and End-of-life Care (EPEC) to develop training materials in neuropalliative care for neurologists, palliative medicine specialists and other allied professionals.
In July of 2018 he started a neuropalliative care clinic specifically dedicated to persons with cancers affecting the brain and nervous system at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.
